If you’re looking to use Desk Pets to teach your kiddos about responsibility, you’re going to need desk pet applications!

Whether built into the day or earned, students will want to play with their Desk Pets in the classroom. For example, if you use Class Dojo as a positive reinforcement strategy, then adding in desk pets will be a breeze!

By using desk pets to promote positive behavior, you’ll be on the right path to a well-managed classroom. I have to admit that when I first saw the idea of eraser animal desk pets (thanks to that parent who brought in the erasers four years ago), I thought my 5th graders would be too old for that. Teachers are using them as a rewards system for good behavior in which the students earn desk pets, as well as food, treats, and other desk pet accessories.

By aligning it with my classroom economy, desk pets are just one option of how my students can spend the classroom cash they earn.We’ve talked to teachers and put our heads together at the Teach Starter offices to come up with some fun ways to incorporate these cute critters into the learning process! I had a donation of a few of these Mini Brands and they even have Toy Mini Brands, but those can get expensive, even though they come with six in each package. They will love imagining where their pet is from and designing a space that is just for their special friend. They can still have a desk pet (or more like a shelf pet😂), and they can still participate in building a habitat for that pet.
