Overall, and in my opinion, the writing style of this memoir really takes away from any impact the author’s experience may potentially have on readers. Like a cherished photograph album, this portrait of Appalachia by two natives of the region is suffused with memories made golden by time. This book definitely belongs to a particular genre, the "mommy coming to terms with disability of a child for the first time memoir. So the gangsters decide to have him swim with the fishes, which might be considered a little much but something which, at this point, I am not entirely opposed to.
